JNU student attacks classmate with axe, dies after suicide attempt

In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old student committed suicide after attacking a woman classmate with an axe at Jawaharlal Nehru University on Wednesday.

The incident took place in room no. 213 of the Korean language department around 11.30 a.m.

The attacker was identified as Akash and the woman as 22-year-old Roshani.




"Akash was taken to Safdarjung Hospital and Roshani was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). We recovered a country made pistol, a bottle of poisonous substance and an axe from the spot," a police officer said.

According to the officer, Akash attacked Roshani with an axe, leaving several injuries on her body.

He later slit his own throat and also consumed a poisonous substance.
