PESHAWAR: At least five people were killed on Wednesday in remote control blast in the Shaktoi area of South Waziristan, DawnNews reported.
The bomb was planted on a roadside near a parked car.
South Waziristan is one of the seven semi-autonomous regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) that are governed by tribal laws.
The area is cut off to journalists and aid workers and it is difficult to confirm the death toll independently. The region was once the main stronghold of the Pakistani Taliban. The military launched a huge offensive against militants there in 2009, but insurgents still operate in the area and periodically stage attacks.
