Rahul Dravid to be made witness in IPL spot-fixing case



New Delhi: Rahul Dravid, captain of Rajasthan Royals, has recorded his statement with the Delhi Police in the IPL spot-fixing scandal and will be made a prosecution witness.

According to media reports, the special cell of Delhi Police went to Bangalore on July 10 and under section 161 of the CrPC, Dravid’s statement was recorded.

Besides Dravid, Rajasthan Royals coach Paddy Upton will also be made a prosecution witness once he returns to India.

Delhi Police deny permission for Yasin Malik's protest



New Delhi: Delhi Police have denied permission to Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik to hold a 48-hour hunger strike in the capital to press for his demands including handing over the body of Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru to his family.

"Yes," said City Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar when asked whether any decision was taken to deny permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar starting on Friday.

The decision came after security agencies submitted a report to the Union Home Ministry that giving permission to Malik to hold protest in Delhi may create law and order problem.

Delhi Police arrest suspected Hizbul operative, foil terror attack in national capital



NEW DELHI: The special cell of Delhi Police foiled a terror attack in the national capital after apprehending a suspected Hizbul Mujahideen operative from Gorakhpur, near Nepal border, in Uttar Pradesh.

The suspect has been identified as Liaqat Ali who 'came' to Delhi by Kosi Express, a source in Delhi Police said.

Liaqat Ali is considered a hardcore terrorist, who initially underwent rigorous training in Pakistan, and has been associated with Hizbul Mujahideen for the last 15 years, the source added. He has been involved in several operations.
