Pak panel to decide if Sarabjit Singh should be sent abroad for treatment



Pakistan has formed a panel of experts to decide whether Sarabjit Singh should be sent abroad for treatment, according to reports in Pakistani TV channels.

Pakistani doctors treating a comatose Sarabjit Singh on Sunday had said there was no improvement in his condition and chances of survival were "slim" even as his distraught family visited him and demanded that he be sent to India for better treatment.

Sarabjit was admitted to Jinnah Hospital on Friday night with a severe head injury. The 49-year-old Indian prisoner sustained injuries over a widespread area of his head that led to unconsciousness.

Kuwait hangs three, including a Pakistani, in first executions since 2007



KUWAIT CITY: Authorities in Kuwait on Monday hanged three convicted murderers in the first executions in the Gulf state since May 2007, the ministry of justice said.

The men, a Pakistani, a Saudi and a stateless Arab, were hanged at the central jail, west of the capital Kuwait City, in front of judicial and security officials, the ministry said.

The Pakistani was convicted of killing a Kuwaiti couple and the Saudi of murdering a compatriot.

The stateless Arab was hanged for killing his wife and five children after claiming he was a long-awaited imam.

Justice (retd) Zahid Qurban takes oath as interim CM of Sindh



KARACHI: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad Khad administered oath to Justice (retd) Zahid Qurban Alvi as Sindh’s caretaker Chief Minister on Monday, DawnNews reported.

The Sindh Assembly was dissolved late on Tuesday after Governor Ibad signed a summary sent by former chief minister Qaim Ali Shah.

Malala Yousafzai defies Taliban attack, returns to school in Britain



Malala Yousafzai , the 15-year-old Pakistani schoolgirl shot in the head by the Taliban for promoting girls' education in her country, on Tuesday defied her attackers by returning to a school in Britain where she underwent several surgeries.

"I am excited that today I have achieved my dream of going back to school," she said after her first day of classes at Edgbaston High School for Girls in Birmingham.
