Core committee: PML-N huddle to pick top slots


LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) decided on Monday to convene a core committee meeting before June 1 in which names for members of the cabinet, speaker and deputy speaker for the National and Punjab assemblies would be finalised, The Express Tribune has learnt.

During a party meeting, PML-N members decided against appointing the incumbent Punjab Assembly Speaker, Rana Muhammad Iqbal, and Deputy speaker Rana Mashood Khan to the posts in the next term.


Bomb blast in Swat kills peace committeea leader’s son


SWAT: A bomb blast took place in Swat’s  Mingor area killing Burgat Ali, son of a PML-N leader and peace committee member Sher Ali, on Tuesday.

Moreover, police said 10 people were injured in the explosion and the bomb was detonated through a remote controlled Improvised Explosive Device (IED).


PML-N to head govt in Balochistan, says leader


QUETTA: The spokesman for the provincial chapter of the PML-N rejected on Sunday reports that the party leadership had agreed to offer the post of Balochistan’s chief minister to the National Party (NP) and insisted that it had decided that the post would go to the PML-N.

Talking to reporters at the press club, Santosh Kumar said the PML-N had acquired majority in the provincial assembly and the voters had empowered it to head the provincial government.

Attack on PML-N rally in Turbat kills two



QUETTA: At least two people were killed and three others were injured when gunmen opened fire on a Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) rally in Balochistan’s Turbat region on Thursday.According to police, PML-N candidate for PB-50 Mohammad Akbar Askani, who had joined the party last year, was the target, however, he survived the attack.Moreover, a wheel-jam strike was being observed against the coming polls in Baloch-dominated areas of Kalat, Mastung, Khuzdar, Turbat and Noshki.

PML-N member dies in scuffle with PPP workers



DADU: At least one person died in a fight between workers of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) in Dadu on Sunday, reported Express News.

According to initial reports, the fight broke out over an issue of putting up party banners and flags in an area.

The brawl led to an exchange of fire between the two parties, resulting in the death of one person belonging to the PML-N.

OKARA: While Imran Khan is drawing huge crowds on his campaign trail, a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) predicts that his party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) could form the next coalition government at the centre. He also foresees the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as coalition partners in Punjab.
