(TimesofIndia): There is no expert on the Maldives in India, Dnyaneshwar Mulay, career diplomat and former Indian high commissioner to the Maldives, said on Tuesday.
He was in the city to address a session organized by the Pune Union of Working Journalists and Dnyaneshwar Mulay Education Society.
A witness to recent political turmoil in the Maldives, Mulay said the awareness regarding Maldives and its geopolitical situation in India is very low. Therefore, he said, it is important to know about the country’s neighbours as political, economic and social changes in these countries may have a major impact on India.
Press freedom situation has not deteriorated- Govt

Government has stated that the situation of press freedom in the Maldives has not deteriorated by thirty levels.
Media secretary of the President’s Office, Masood Imad made this remark on behalf of the government when he was summoned to the government evaluation committee of the Peoples’ Majlis yesterday on the claims that the government does not cooperate with the local TV channel RaajjeTV.
