Leaders differ on poll date as they share podium with chairman Regmi


Leaders of the major parties have differed on whether the government should immediately announce the election date.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the annual meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) in the capital Wednesday, UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the government should fix the date right away.

Organising a press conference in Kathmandu, Wednesday, MJF chairman Upendra Yadav claimed that the upcoming election will be impossible without forging broad consensus among all parties.

“The election cannot take place without forging broad consensus among all parties,” he said, “and even if election does take place without consensus it won’t be able to ensure new constitution.”
